The South Atlantic Islands are a group of islands located in the South Atlantic Ocean, between South America and Africa. The most famous of these islands is probably the Falkland Islands, which are a British Overseas Territory. Other inhabited islands in the region include Ascension Island (which is also a British Overseas Territory), St. Helena (also a British Overseas Territory), Tristan da Cunha (part of the British overseas territory of Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha), and Bouvet Island (uninhabited and part of Norway). These islands are known for their unique wildlife, including penguins, seals, and albatross. They also have a rich human history, with many of them having been colonized by European powers over the years.
